Trip to Macau

Oh ok. By reading this, it means I'm back in Sg and I've completed the three day tour of the land of casinos or the land of slots or whatever u call it. For those who thought that this was a trip too good to be true, well, as usual, you're right! (damn.. how come you're right all the time?)

We started off day one travelling to the budget terminal to catch a Tiger to Macau. Considering that the flight was at 6, that meant that we had to be there an hour earlier, say 5? Grab a cab at say 4? and wake up at say 3? 3am in the morning, and a zombie started preparing for his visit to the land of the dead...I mean casinos. We called a cab and got to the terminal in time, perhaps a little too early. Getting there early actually meant that you'd get a seat at the back of the plane (the fill up from back to front) and us being one of the earliest, meant that we were the nearest to the rear end.

Not that I am afraid of getting off late, sitting at the back did have a certain perk that we learnt to avoid. You see, in the plane itself, there were only 2 restrooms...one at the front, and one at the back. And considering that some people might get stomach problems after boarding the plane, sitting at the rear end meant that we get what 'Famous Amos' provided.

One thing that really caught my attention though, was the proficiency of the airport staff... not that they were fast in checking us in, but one second she was there giving us our tickets, the next she was there collecting the tickets from us!! Either she has a twin sister working at the same terminal, or she has bionic limbs that could travel faster than we could walk to the gate.

Finally, we were on board and on the way to a well deserved holiday!! 3 days of Blackjack, Roulette and Poker!!! 3 days of Portugese Egg Tarts, Pork Chop Buns and Almond Biscuits!!!

Macau was always an excursion off of Hong Kong; a one day extension and you'd have covered most of the places you'd want to visit. Most people spend like half a day there, unless their motive is to gamble at the casinos. We had 3 days there, so it was a "eh, wat are we going to do next ah?" kinda trip. We booked the Venitian, the new hotel at Taipa that mimicked Venice in Italy. We reached the airport, caught a cab to the Venitian and checked in.

The architecture of the hotel was impressive. Everything seemed to be coated in gold.

One thing we noticed was, in order to get to the rooms, you had to pass the casino. In fact, in order to get anywhere at all, you had to pass the casino!! I guess this is one of their strategies to make people spend more time at the casino. But it sure is irritating when you just want to go to the conceirge and you half to walk pass the casino just to get to them.

Made our way through the casino with our luggage. Wow! At first sight, the rooms were really something. I could've just stayed at the hotel room for 3 days, and that'd make a great holiday!

We asked for twin queen beds... which would be a lot bigger than if we had a single king size. Each room had like 2 TVs! We each took one TV and were on different channels the whole time.

There was a fax, copier and printer with dedicated broadband set on one side of the room. Man, da boss will love this place.

A huge bathroom (well thats normal) with a room catered specifically for...err... its personal.

After lazing around long enough in the hotel room, we decided to have lunch and move out. We opted for a simple lunch at the Festivitia Foodcourt which was at the Grand Canal Shopping Centre connected to the Casino. I tried ordering duck rice, but the lady said they dun sell duck, they only sell goose. If you notice the sky in the picture below, you'll see the same sky at night, cause it's made of canvas.

Okok...enough of the hotel. We had lunch and decided to look around Macau. Macau consists of a few islands connected by man-made bridges. Taipa (where our hotel is) is connected to Macau Peninsula by Macau-Taipa Bridge, Friendship Bridge and Sai Van Bridge. The cable stayed bridges look really impressive.

Travelling in Macau is pretty much by cab or bus. I'm definitely biased in recommending that u take a cab instead of the local transport albeit the price being a lot steeper. We caught a cab to Largo do Senodo, without knowing that it was the Senate Square and walked over to the Ruins of St Paul. The ruins were protected since 2005 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a steel staircase at the back of the facade that allows tourists to climb up to the top. Within the ruins, there is also a crypt and some artifacts.

From the ruins, we made our way to Mont Forte, which was directly opposite the ruins. After looking at some cannons, and some aunties climbing trees for a photograph, we walked back to find our way to Largo Do Senodo. On the way back, we visited 'Choi Heong Yuen' and 'Koi Kei', 2 places famous for their Almond Biscuits.

The shops are full packed with tourists, grabbing whatever biscuits they could get their hands on. It was a little suffocating, but I guess getting the biscuits should be worth it. On a different note, for those on a budget.. buying a softdrink outside costs MOP8 whereas within the shopping area, it can cost up to MOP25 per cup... that is about SGD5 per drink. We also had a portugese egg tart outside Koi Kei. Yumm..

Having done the central area, we decided to move on to the Guia Lighthouse. Nothing much there actually, except that our taxi driver dropped us off at the bottom of the hill and made us walk, whereas we keep watching other cabs drive up to the top. But, it does have a good view of Macau from a high vantage point.

We headed back to the hotel to rest. And then realised that the toilet was stuck and needed plumbing. Can't really blame the hotel though. These things do happen. (Thats what I thought at first).

The next morning, I was looking forward to a good breakfast. The hotel boasted the biggest restaurant in Asia or something. Ya, its kinda big, but the food really suck leh. If you go there, forget about getting breakfast included. You'd do better at McD or Starbucks.

After a half filled breakfast, we headed out to our next destination. We had 2 items on our itenary for the day: Macau Tower and A-Ma Temple.

We paid like MOP60+ per person for entry to Macau Tower. Though we were skeptical that we'd see much from the tower, but being on holiday, we went in anyway. Bought tickets to the observatory for Macau Tower. (Note: You can actually pay MOP460++ for an attempt at the Sky X Dive or something... I think its like bungeeing off the Tower. But seriously, I'm really not that adventurous).

The view from Macau Tower is much much better than that at the Guia lighthouse. Up at the tower, they have a touch screen that allows you to send postcards for free though. I think I sent myself 3 cards.... hehe

At the end of the visit, we went downstairs and had a tea break. I saw the 'chu pa pow' or pork chop bun on the menu. The bun costs only MOP10!! Or SGD2!! Considering that the next cheapest on the menu was like MOP25, this was like cheaper than mineral water! And when it came, it really came with fries and vege on a nice blue plate. Was one of the better things we ate there. Yummm...

We headed off to A-Ma Temple for our last sight seeing destination. A-Ma Temple is a tribute to Goddess A-Ma, who gives her blessings to the fishermen. In Macau, they pray to A-Ma and Guan Yin.

After completing our visit, we headed back to the hotel for some light window shopping. We went to a makeshift St Marks Square and watched some gondolas singing and bringing passengers through the shopping area.

Ended our day with a late in-suite dinner. We were planning to have dinner outside, but the door to our hotel room clouldn't be closed and it took ages for the maintenance guy to arrive. Ended up having Crab Meat with Yee Fu Noodles and Suckling Pig for dinner instead.

The next day, went to the casino to do some donations, then headed to the airport and back to Singapore.

Yawn..

Got the photos uploaded to the pc, completed 'The Five People you Meet in Heaven', cleared luggage from the trip, saw an episode of 'Kekkaishi', did some laundry and worked on some back exercises.. then realised I was too beat to blog... haha

Small, tiny and utterly useless...

If you just said "that's you", you're probably right. Sometimes I just feel like I'm a gutless, spineless excuse of a cuttlefish. Some would call me the pus on the bacteria residing on a fly who just landed on some feces. I think I wrote this somewhere in this blog before. For those who like a challenge, you can read post by post until u see it... then lemme know yah, which post it was and what I wrote then. Don't know why either, but just feels like I'm small, minute, negligable. And I feel tired like everyday... like god just put a 100 ton weight on my back. Maybe its the travelling, or maybe just lack of motivation. Or maybe I just need a break. Thank god I'm leaving for a trip to Macau.

Me...the property mogul...

Got an sms yesterday from an old colleague asking me how much I bought my place for. Seconds after replying him, got another call from a relative, asking me the exact same question. Then came a long half hour of questions.... on why I bought it, why I didn't convince my other relatives to buy it when it was lower in price, how I knew the price was going up, which unit to buy if someone wants to buy from the free market etc etc... Oh wow...I just don't know what hit them. Its like someone just told them I was a real estate agent or some property mogul. Then I remembered that he vaguely mentioned that there was this newspaper article.

Turns out that someone posted an article on the newspapers saying that the buildings at our area might double in purchase price. Joke was that 1) those that wrote the article were probably real estate agents that had a vested interest in increasing the unit prices, 2) price increases due to existing information like the IR and cost of materials were already factored in the current pricing, 3) what they wrote in the article everyone already knew 6 months ago.

So, after getting the place for over half a year... everyone reacts because the newspaper publishes a stupid article? Oh well, really shouldn't complain, cos the more people believe in such news, the more the price of my unit will appreciate!! hahaha.

Giving up..

Guess some things are really just too difficult to give up on. So.... sorry for not closing this blog down as promised. Everyone's going to have to continue to endure more of this crap... hahaha..

A little bird said..

I was walking along a street. For the longest time, I remember walking in that same street and going through the same alleys. I never seem to get lost, because everytime I lost my way, a little bird will fly beside me and whisper something to me...

At times I wonder, why there seems to be so many birds flying with me. And at other times, I wonder if everyone else had as many birds as I do. But seriously speaking, I guess its a blessing to have a little bird whisper something to you...

I can't even start to make a list of the whispers I've gotten. And most of them do sound like quotes from some anectode.

Oh well, just count my blessings that they're there for me...

Phew.....The End...

Conference ended today... all in all I guess it was a fruitful experience. Met some nice people. The Koreans were exceptionally nice.... their director was a charismatic character who exhumed confidence while being totally humble. The two other Koreans were 30 and 35 in age. Once was like a Deputy Director at 30, but had a little bit of problem conversing in English. The other was 35 and could communicate pretty well. I guess these are guys I could keep in touch with.

Then there was the Australian and New Zealand reps, who were just pure accomodating. When I requested for some info, they automatically responded with tons of explanations. The Australian rep even whipped up a couple of books and passed it to us on the spot. The Japanese chap seemed a bit young. He looked like one of the leads from "Death Note", but I guess he had to keep his cool, because he was representing Japan and he was the only one there.

My Singaporean counterparts were no less warm. They were trying for the past 3 days to make me do public speaking. They tried so hard to make me speak. Once, they tried and I looked at the chairman and said "Me no know English" "Me from China"..... everyone broke out in laughter and the chair from Korea automatically got my hint and pointed at the Phillipines rep. Round 2 and they were ready to try again. Once more, the Korean Director timely assisted. Before they could say a word, he announced that New Zealand had volunteered to present. Phew. Safe...

I guess all in all, they were all pretty nice people. No one (except the Indonesian perhaps) showed airs or flaunted their designations. I guess its not all that bad....

Afetr all, at 4pm, I was allowed to go home...

Conference at Home

Yap... I'm in KL... in a cybercafe that costs RM2 per hour... yep....thats S$1!!! Wonder how they make money leh...

Conference was really....educational. By educational I actually mean goddammed boring. Imagine this, you're sitting in a room, where the youngest (minus yourself) is probably in his late 40s. You're looking at a speaker from a neighbouring country, presenting on what his country is doing... like they is setting up x committees, putting up y guidelines, linking up with z collaborating centres.. yada yada yada... like I care..

Then I yawn, and realise that no one else is in "sleepy" mode... everyone seems to be on "intently listening" mode. So I grab a few mentos and dump them in my mouth... and those two guys sitting beside me start laughing at the number of sweet wrappers on my table...

Then the entire day, other than listening, the only fruitful thing I do is hold a camera, point it at either one of the 2 guys, and shoot them when they present. How I wish I could use a gun instead of a camera. Hahahaa...

Ok...so the day ends...and the number of delegates I actually bothered to speak to can be counted in one hand. One Indonesian Director that looks like Maitreya Buddha, the Singaporean professor which we had lunch with, the Malaysian guy which came in second after me this morning, the Sri Lankan guy sitting beside me, err...errr...errr....wow... less than one hand...

No lunch provided either, so we ended up eating at Jalan Alor, and since all the other shops were closed, the only thing left was a shop selling wanton noodle...

The evening fare was much much better... the yam dumpling was fantabulous... yummm....

Too bad cannot ta pao...if no I bring some back for you guys... hahahha....

Yucks...tomorrow morning have to get up at 530am again, to beat the traffic... dam...

Pics of the new place..

Expected to be done by 1st quarter 08. Haha.. tour only for selected few...

Armageddon for PB11...

Haha...what a title... but I guess its about time I stopped blogging as a hobby, and spend more time on other things. Contemplating on closing down this blog down in a weeks time, after I'm back from KL. After all, apart from a few good buddies, no one reads this load of crap. Haha...

For friends who want updates, just drop me a mail, and I'll spun out weaves of news about whats going on with my stagnant boring life. You ask for it...you'll get it! Hehehe... for others, I'll see u on messenger or msn or in person.

Adios! And its been a good few years of blogging!!!

Point to Ponder

Don't believe I actually posted this in a comment of one of my buddies blogs..

"Have been reading some books.. one of them says that the younger generation now think that they deserve a minimum level of happiness.. But we really shouldn't be expecting it... When it does come, we should be happy that we get it... but when it doesn't, we wont be sad, cause we expected nothing from the beginning...Perhaps, if we learn to think this way, we will all be more contented with what we have, instead of being affected by what we don't.. "

Wow... where did I get that? A bit too profound for an idiot like me...don't u think?

Home..

Next week...I'll be back to a place called home. I remember years back, when I went home... I'd wait until the bus crosses the border, and somehow, albeit the toxic exhaust fumes and stale air at the causeway, I'd take a deep breath and it'd feel that I have reached home.

Its really not that things are perfect over there, but the feeling of going back to a place where people know you and don't judge you for who you are, where friends are people who really cared for you and family is just around the corner. I guess I do miss home. A week to spend, reduced by 3 days of work, seems a little short. But it'd have to make do for now.

:[

Damn...I left the envelopes and stamps in the car!!!!

Tired...again...

Been a little occupied these days.. seems like the errands keep coming... one done and another appears....

Have to:

a) send the car for repairs before sending it to VICOM... can't seem to get myself to do it

c) change address for all my accounts....just shifted... and just bought envelopes and stamps (DONE)

Yumm...

Going for bak kut teh again!! High blood pressure coming soon..hehe

Einstein, Duck Liver and some Sorbet

Dinner time, and we decided on a french restaurant called La Petit at Serene Center. We've been there before, and I reckoned that this time, I could get a photo with the chef... someone who awfully resembles Einstein. He only comes out to read the order, then goes back to the kitchen, so getting him for a photo shoot would prove to be difficult.

We felt like seafood, so we ordered sea prawns with wholegrain mustard and some ravioli with prawns and foei gras (duck liver). Duck liver tastes just like pork liver...wonder why the former is a delicacy and the latter is just pork liver. La Petit always serves the lightest portion, not for the hungry, but just right for those with a small appetite. The waiter got my order and the chef came out. He looked at what I ordered and said "Can u order something easier to cook?" and the waiter responded "What? Like Mee Goreng?". And before I could even throw a cup at his head to catch his attention, he was back in the kitchen. Oh well, there's always a next time.

We finished our portions of dinner, and headed next door for pulut hitam and pear sorbet.. one scoop a person, learning from the challenging time we had finishing 4 scoops of teh tarik, horlicks, something that tastes like milo, and something else that tastes like tartufo.

60 seconds...

A normal office day...when the PA of the director came upstairs to tell us that the Director was bringing some delegates upstairs.

As if spurred by reflex, my instincts told me I had a list of things to do:

1) Switch Bleach wallpaper to Construction photo
2) Remove earphones from ear
3) End ongoing conversations on the pc and replace with Report
4) Close yahoo mail, open Lotus Notes
5) Sit upright and look at Report

Just 5 seconds from the time I finished item 5, the director and a bunch of delegates appeared behind me. And I had to stand up to greet them. I'm sure they appreciated the construction photo... much more than they would've appreciated Bleach... though they do look like they might be anime fans...Remind me next time, that I should learn how to change from casual to formal wear in 2.3 seconds...

Haiji or Prata...

Standard morning for a standard day... I arrive late (as usual), we walk down for breakfast, and my colleague pops the standard question "Haiji or Prata?"....

Basically, I guess it's not that we enjoy either stall of food, but there is this stall that sells dam good coffee at Amoi called Syed Mohd. And being lazy, I guess the stalls nearest to that coffee stall is 'Haiji', selling chinese fried bee hoon or mee, and 'Prata', selling prata la of course. I'm sure the prata stall has a name, but really can't be bothered to find out.

So, day in day out, we are stuck with either fried bee hoon or prata. I guess once the renovations at HQ is done, we will be able to go back to RC for coffee, and not worry whether to choose "Haiji or Prata".

Dinner....

Had dinner with a buddy today. It was really enjoyable. Felt a lot like I left my brain back at home. Haha... practically spoke without thinking the whole evening...

Sometimes, you just need friends like that, friends who are fun to be with, friends who don't judge you and friends who really dun take jokes to heart. I guess I'm quite lucky, to be blessed with nice people throughout my life. Never realised that I have so many pillars of strength to fall to. Sincerely, thank you all....

Well, a good deed deserves another. So if any of you ever need a pillar, just dial 1800-Suai-Ge or msn "小童"... I'm sure I have a spare ear somewhere..

Hmm...

Something to think about:

"If we are to judge of love by its consequences, it more nearly resembles hatred than friendship."

Who?

Went to the airport this morning. As I was walking from one end of the terminal to the other, I noticed a a whole bunch of people crowding around...and a queue forming in front of a bus. Thinking that it was tourists, I walked past the crowd and went to look for my other half. While looking around, I suddenly heard a bunch of girls screaming "小童, 小童" (xiao tong, xiao tong). Wonder why they were screaming at me so affectionately. So I turned, looked around and said "Who? Who call me?". Waaa....I really diden know I got so many fans wan leh. One thing though, there was this guy in the middle of the crowd who was wearing some sunglasses and a cap. He probably annoyed my fans so much that the security had to escort him out. Nonetheless, I guess the crowd dissapated after I left.

My new room...

What'd ya expect!! Guy room leh! hahaha.. of course dirty wan la..

Isn't it ironic....

Sometimes, things are just plain ironic. Wonder why I always feel so outta place. Guess I can make a list that even Alanis Morisette would be proud of.

a) I drink 8 cups of coffee a day to stay awake....coffee makes me sleep
b) I drive to work... then walk 15 minutes to get to the office
c) My job title is "Specialist"... I do anything that no one else wants to do
d) I'm assigned to go back to my home country...... to represent another country.... on a subject which I know nuts about....
e) I like going to kbox to sing chinese songs..... I can't read chinese
f) I bought a 30" LCD TV.... and its doing a good job collecting dust under the bed
g) I shifted to a new room with air-conditioning!! Yaay!! ... But I don't like being cold le..
h) Every night, I set the alarm to wake up early .... somehow, I never fail to be late

Could probably go on and on and on... have so many more examples that makes my life really ironic... how I wish life was just simple...

Feels like stupidity..

If there was an award for being stupid... I guess I would win hands down...

On the way home, I dropped my other half back to her place and she took some stuff out of the boot. I realised something was wrong, and went down the car to check. There and then, I realised that the boot was open. I tried 2 times to get it closed, but it just popped right back open everytime I close it. So, having learnt the trick of using a pen to temporarily disengage the hazard lights, I stuffed a pen in and drove on. When I reached my place (ya the new place) I tried once again to see if any part of the boot or locking mechanism was faulty. I took out the pen, and tried closing it once more, but it popped back open. Then I guess something just dawned on me. I don't have strength... have been carrying stuff for the whole week, I guess I really was feeling a bit weak. Using a bit more strength, I closed the boot again, and it popped shut. Opened it once more and tried again, and it closed shut real nicely. Ya, I think I better rest more and eat more rice... hehe

Not even worth a foreign worker...

Was having this conversation with my former housemates, the foreign workers. It went something like:
"eh, u shift"
"ya, I shifting"
"eh, we also shift"
"hah? when"
"end of month"
"why, how come u shift"
"here not good, place dirty, market far, mrt far, no good, lousy...agent find better place"

It was then that it dawned on me that I was living in an environment for 6-7 years which even foreign workers found it hard to live in!!! My god... I really have to learn to be more demanding.. haha.....

Old man with shaking hands...

Aiyo... I old already la. Today was the first day I start shifting some stuff over to the new place. Drawed the deposit and 1 month rent from the ATM and headed home to stack stuff into my car.

Disclaimer: Half way reading, u will not understand a word I'm saying... but its ok... this is my blog leh... not yours...hahahaa

First target... the keyboard. Had trouble figuring out how to dismantel the dam thing. And somehow managed to drop the dam power charger on my toes. Owww! Owww! Oww!!! Some internal bleeding and a red toe, but have to live with it la. After the pain subsided and half an hour fiddling around the buttons and screws, I finally managed to remove the top with the hammer keys and decided I would not dismantle the bottom... instead, i could make 2 trips...one for the top and one for the bottom to the car, 10 stories below.

I got the bottom down to the car, then realised the stupid thing cannot fit in the back seat... tilt also cannot, diagonal also cannot. So I ran upstairs and got the allen key (is that how u spell it??) then took the key down to dismantel the bottom.

I reckon, bringing the key alone would waste another trip, so I took the top along with the key downstairs. The top was exceptionally heavy. It was like lifting weights. Only thing is that this weight was as long as me!! Tried stuffing in the top into the car... after 15 mins, it miraculously fit.

Started dismantling the bottom like an idiot at the carpark. Everyone passing by had that "is that fella trying to steal a car?" look on their faces. Then I got the rest of the parts of the keyboard into the car in like 3 more trips to and fro from upstairs to the carpark. When I got back to the car, I was drenched and exhausted. Then I realised that both my hands were shaking. Another sign of old age.

Told myself "Uncle, half the job done aredy... one more half then u can rest".. phew... then drove to the new place at Villa Verde.. The landlady there was telling her husband... "You see, people can play piano and guitar wan leh" and her daughter was saying "You can teach kor kor...he also got guitar"... and there and then, I had to correct them... "No..no... I cannot play one...I am under the category of sibeh lao pok.. and never take lessons" "Maybe your kor kor can teach me leh"...hahahaha...

Finally managed to get the piano to 3rd floor. And after being drenched in sweat a second time round (gross rite? haha) I got to the car, drove back.. and felt a sense of relief knowing that the piano is there... then I turn and look at the 32 inch tv, the isqueeze, the tv console, my 4 boxes of books, clothes, toys and dvds... and tons of other things I haven't started packing... and I guess slip disc will be coming soon... hehehhee... just kidding...

Hmmm...

Something to think about:

If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts; but if he will be content to begin with doubts, he shall end in certainties.

A for Apple, B for Ball....

Met up with a uni student to be interviewed on what I was doing at the request of my boss.

The poor guy was waiting for me at the sofa at level 1. From his looks, I could see that he was really expecting the worse, some gross government servant with a cruel demeanour and a ghastly look. So, just then, I decided that I was going to change his impression of government servants. No I did not put on a bunny suit or danced "ni shi wo de hua duo". I merely flashed my teeth and told him, "Hey, lets not make this so formal....lets go grab a cup of coffee somewhere while we discuss this".

We went on to URA for coffee, and I switched on my laptop and made some small talk. "So, why did you join civil?" and his response "That was the only thing that caught my interest". "Well, it has to be either salary or career development" and his eyes lit up while he said "Err...what about job satisfaction?"... for a second there, I was tempted to say "That's a myth, it doesn't exist" but I blurted out "Well, have to somehow balance the three" to not disillusion the poor guy.

We went on to discuss about the processes in what I was doing, what laws were passed and some historical background. I guess halfway through the process, he was getting to be quite comfortable, knowing that I was not being adversarial. I then remembered what my boss told me... "ask him.. ask him to do the competency framework... do the framework....ask him to do the training framework...ask him...now...askkkkhiimm". It was like a haunting voice, trailing part of my brain...the part that was really lazy to come up. After all, I was trying to play host and then finish it off asap, so that I can return to the comfort of my cubicle. Sigh. Against my conscience, had to tell him, "Well, if you want to churn out a better fyp, it is better if you concentrate on ahem...ahem.." "On what?" "on ahem fra... ahem wor...ahem" "What was that?" "ahem....competency and training framework...ahem ahem". He really didn't know what the heck I was talking about...so I spent the next 15 mins or so explaining how our company could facilitate his study and research... for the benefit of the 'ahem' industry. Finished off the final bit of Q&As and walked back to the office.

On the way back, he explained that he already knew his grades due to some cap system used in NUS. And I wondered why such a demoralising system was used in uni nowadays. He clarified that it was supposed to "make student work harder when they know where they stand" and that "NTU is also adopting the same system". No wonder kids nowadays need so much tuition.

I guess all in all, it felt as though he was still in school life. Well ya, he is, but it just feels like he is still not infected by working experience. No crappy decisions, no last minute arrows, no bad management. Perhaps, one day, he would be the one being interviewed... and he would be telling the student "Job satisfaction? That's a myth...it doesn't exist"...

Changes..

Man I just hate changes... I hate shifting, hate colleagues leaving, hate job scope altering, hate having new people to work with... man, I just seem to hate everything... ya ya... I am an introvert... and my pretentious outer core of an extrovert doesn't work at all...

Just don't understand why there must be so dam many changes all at once... why can't they just spread out...or come one at a time... why must they all come at one go... sigh....

Wait till I become a director... then I can impose a no change policy (NCP)... totally no changes allowed for 3 years... and each change must be substantiated with a full 5000 page report... anything less and no change will be allowed...

Basket...if only things can change for the better... whoever upstairs is writing the script, wake up la...stop sleeping...

Where got old aunty??

We were at Vivo City getting some transparent containers to contain my hoards of stuff accumulated over the year. Thank god they invented the trolley, or my back would've given way carrying 4 huge containers to the car. When we offloaded the container, the first thing that comes into mind was, where is the old aunty who collects trolleys and gets the $1 stuck in there?

This time, cannot find the old aunty leh... so we looked at each other and decided that we shouldn't let the trolley hang in the car park lot. Then we did the unthinkable. We decided to push the empty trolley cart back to Giant!! (actually, we kiam la...want to save that $1, I was lamenting that we probably earned more than 10,000 times that amount and we do such stupid things to get back $1). We pass through the car park, took a lift up 2 stories with the empty trolley, walked past the restrooms, past a long and winding corridor, back to the main area, pass the newstand we bought newpapers from and finally back to Giant.

Now that I think of it... where is the old aunty when u need her??!?

Public Holiday (No Post)

Exhausted...

Dunno why sometimes I just feel mentally and physically exhausted.. like everything all of a sudden is not going my way. Perhaps there is something wrong with me, or as I prefer to believe, perhaps it has something to do with some astrology thing...

Wait, gimme a second, lets see what the yahoo astrologer has to say this time... haha..... I know I suck...

" The intellectual in you will see many interesting facets to the day -- and be very intrigued by every one of them. Everything you encounter will be confusing, but also fascinating. You will want to dissect and interpret everything you survey, and this curiosity will serve you quite well. It may even lead to a new financial opportunity. It's been a very long time since you fed your brain just for the sake of learning something. It would be good to get back in the habit."

No leh... where got financial opportunity? Maybe they're talking about toto.

But true also la, haven't been spending much time learning things... maybe there are many more things I can learn that I haven't bothered to....

But not tonight la... tonight I want to sleep... yawn...

What is the link between 5 Myanmese, Slip Disc, Birthdays, Allergies and Stomach Flu?

Ok... this is gonna be another rant... if you've had a long day, and am fed up of the whole world complaining about everything under the sun, then close your eyes, or shut down your pc. Easier still, shut off your monitor.. (hahaha...if you did any of these, you must be a moron)...

I got back from work the other day, and went to my rented unit. Was having a normal day so far... a bit hectic, but normal. Planned to get some stuff done then get to bed early, when what I saw in the dining room startled me. There standing at the hall, was 5 Myanmese guys, foreign workers from Myanmar standing there trying to get a bed up at the balcony. I was a little upset, because somehow, I knew that the landlord had rented the other room out... probably to these 5 guys... I found out later, it wasn't 5 Myanmese...it was 6. The landlord came, and I told him that I wasn't really pleased with not being told earlier, and decided to get a unit somewhere else..

Then I got into the room... and my back hurt. Must be from the can lifting we did for charity for the company. It was really nothing much, just a few boxes of cans here and there, but there was this other guy over there that really made me have the chills.
You see, we were all working together to get the cans from one room to the other. But there was this guy there whom I noticed took two cans each time, one on each hand, and walked over to the other room. He went a second round with a packet of 3-4 small cans. When he came back, I really couldn't contain myself. Luckily I didn't laugh out loud, it would've been pretty rude. But then again, I guess he was smarter... at least he didn't get a back strain after the event...

Then I received a call, and my other half had rashes. Went to the doc and got some antihistamine for the allergy. Thank god for removing the queue from the clinic. When I got home a second time, I realised my stomach flu from last week didn't really recover, Worse still, my buddy's birthday was on the next day!

Haha.. was really exhausted for the longest time. Just pray that these 'coincidences' don't occur too often. My other half said that I am always happy, and maybe I was being punished for just being too happy... perhaps there is some truth to that..

Oh wow... people actually read this stuff??

Haha.. ya I'm talking bout this sad excuse of a blog.... this buddy of mine made my day....

Was having tea with two bro's, when we started talking about blogs and ad revenue. I was as usual, busy explaining the intricacies of earning net revenue through adsense and why my account was banned (dun ask), when out of nowhere, he mentioned that he passed my blog address to a friend of his and he actually received an sms telling him that I bought a piano!

I mean, its actually quite flattering that anyone would even be interested to read the load of crap that I post here, less the original cast of Chicken and Bug. So, to whomever you are, a warm thank you for visiting and please do come often...thought I can't promise that I'd provide anything more interesting.... haha

Hmmm?

Something to think about:

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is in having lots to do and not doing it.

Err...

多情自古空余恨, 此恨绵绵无绝期... This was what "chue pak kai" or "chu ba jie" in the HK Stephen Chow version of Journey to the West sez. Well, I've managed to find a para of the poem, but I'm sure theres a longer version somewhere...

多情自古空余恨
好梦由来最易醒
天长地久有时尽
此恨绵绵无绝期

If anyone knows where to find it, do lemme know ya! Hee..

Oh My God...

Was at Guardian Pharmacy picking up some stuff, when we went to the counter to pay. While waiting for the cashier to key in our stuff, I saw a black box with the word Andro on it. Saw the advert before, with a girl in red and some herbs or whatever else they put there, but didn't pay it much attention. Feeling bored, I picked up the box and flipped it around. The instructions on the box says it improves blood circulation for men. So I presumed its a hair growth product. Its important to have good circulation to have a healthy scalp rite? The I looked at box, and saw some brochures beside it. I picked up a brochure and there was the picture of the girl in red, some oysters, seahorses and other stuff. My other half told me, it is men cream la... then I realised what the oysters and seahorses meant. I immediately placed the box where I took it and noticed the sales lady giggling away. Aiyo, why they put this kinda product at the cashier counter la... put it somewhere discrete ma...

Pant Pant!!

For a second week in a row, we went to Bukit Gombak Stadium to jog.. the previous week, we went on a Sunday...I made 6 rounds... but ended up with a neckache and pain in the back and calves for the entire week!! Problem was, it was a Sunday! So, had to nurse the back and legs over the week at work!

Man, am I getting old or what...

This week, we got smarter...decided to jog on a Saturday... that way, if I get aches, I still have a Sunday to recuperate... I did 7 rounds... and this time, I got a headache... of all the non-medical remedies I know, I've took Vitamin B complex, drank coffee, slept for 3 hours, and applied Vicks... but the migrane is still here... well, if nothing else helps, then I'd have to make do with panadol....

And the following one after that...

Guess again?

Still cannot guess ah? Aiyo... look at the picture filename la...hahaha

Our next tour destination...

Take a guess!

Hmmm...

Kia Lai Kia Ke...

We went to the Natas on a Saturday. And after deciding on foregoing Spain due to some technical difficulties, we were at a loss of where else to go. Walking around, we managed to get some brochures. As most of the booths were just opening, I caught one Aunty at one of the travel agencies lecturing her young staff. "Dun just sit there, stand up and ask people 'Going somewhere?'. Got a lot of people walk here walk there dunno where they wan to go wan". Somehow, it dawned on us that she was referring to us. So, that was the end of our tour at Natas fair.

A new companion...

Got myself a new Yamaha Privia 700 a week back... was planning for a Casio CDP-100 for the longest time, but when we went over to Carrefour, and saw a couple of models, this was a winner!! Well, and not to mention $500 more expensive than the latter...

Never was any good at piano...but I guess I can now spend some time on it..

Finally a letter!!!

I was reading the newspapers one day... and being a comic page person, it was a one in a lifetime occurence that I was flipping through the rest of the articles... halfway through the newspapers, an article caught my attention. It was on a rapist being caught. What caught my attention was not the article itself, but the name of the rapist... it was 80% similar to that of my brother!! So what happened next is history... and it included some liquid paper, an envelope and a stamp. He received the letter a few days later... and his joy of receiving it was shortlived.. I guess he would've cursed me profusely after receiving an envelope with an article.

Years later, well actually yesterday, I read an article on a kid with a depressing past... well, only this time, he had the name of my office buddy... stopping short of cutting out the article, I sent him an sms with the page number and newspaper it was on... phew..... good thing though, he didn't have the time to read it...

Guess I should start writing a proper letter... to compensate for the missing letter that should've companied the article..

Chiu kua...

Wow...always dreaded going to the karaoke with frens in Singapore.. after all, I am chinese illiterate, and singing a mandarin song is as good as me reciting a poem from memory.. but nonetheless, 3 handsome guys made their way there. The lady asked if we were singing for a couple of hours or longer and told us they would close at 4am. If we left anytime before that, they would have no additional charges.. Looking at my watch, it was about 9pm plus. So, if we sang for like 2 hours, we would finish by say 11pm.
So, we booked a room, got in, and started honing our throats.. One guy sang like Jay Chou... the other like Andy Lau... hehehe... I as usual, cannot sing la.. So, imagine Jay giving Andy support while singing a Stephenie Sun song...
We were there for a while, and as we ordered our second drink on the house, it was already 12+... so, deciding to maximise our investment, we made another major decision... to sing till 4am!! By 2am, we were foaming from singing.. the mike seemed to have legs...and always ended up on Jay's chest... then when Jay and Andy took a leak, I swopped places and all of a sudden, I was Andy, Andy was Jay and Jay was me! Finished a couple more songs... and it was already 4am..
We walked out with Andy (now Jay) commenting that he couldn't walk straight.. he can drink 2 towers at Brewerks, but just singing 7 hours at Kbox and he can't walk straight... hahahhahaa....
On an ending note... this is probably the first time I've spent so many hours in a karaoke room...
