Believe it or not...
A colleague actually spent like an entire hour reading through the posts in this blog!!! My god... really too free man... hahahahaha
We got keys!!!
Got the keys for our new home... the quality of works were really a lot better than what we expected. I had my insurance slip in the car, so we managed to get a transponder and a carpark label on the spot. The number coded entrance door needs to get a little used to though.
One thing we realised, was that most of the cars there were luxury cars. BMs, Merz.. the worse piece of steel there was probably my ageing Vios.
Next few hurdles will be the renovations and utilities. Once that gets done, it's home sweet home!! Yaay!

Utterly talented...
My ex-colleague and buddy was telling me that he sent in an application for a writing contest. It's really not easy to just churn out something out of a title. Only thing I can say is that the essay he wrote, is nothing short of brilliant. I would be surprised if he didn't win.
That being said, sometimes, I just wonder how some people can be so talented. I mean, if you compared this friend to me... it will be no comparison at all, hands down, total defeat. I can picture god putting this guy together..."add some singing ability, put in some sporty-ness, a dash of language mastery, a pinch of music talent, two scoops of writing skills.." and on it goes.
Can't god be just a little fairer and pass me his singing talent?... hahahhahaa.. ya I can't sing for peanuts....

Yumm..
The praying mantis ate wat??
The latest fad seems to be Forbidden Kingdom. I've got more than 1 buddy talking to me about how crappy the translations were. Well I guess its a good effort to try to make it to the western market, but I doubt any of the ang mo's would understand a word they are saying. I can just picture them waiting in anticipation for the show to start, with Jet Li and Jacky Chan and all, and then scratching their heads and wondering what is "the gate of no gate?" "two tigers can't be stored in one mountain??". Well, it was quite entertaining though, looking at the immortals fly back 1 feet everytime they got up... and listening to Crystal Liu Yi Fei (who happens to have the same name as my brother in law)'s 2nd person quotes "She has practiced the jade dart that can kill immortals" "She miss her mother" "She is a salty pig hand". Well, considering that there's really not much to watch in the cinemas, it definitely beats watching another Andy Lau or Leon Lai movie.
Mmmm..
Went to Island Cremery again... yes again...
I had teh tarik... my other half had chendol and burnt caramel.. considering that she eats twice the amount of ice cream I eat, how come she is half my size ah? hahaha... wonder if we both have tapeworms or superhuman metabolic rates..

I bought Train Man... she bought me Secret
Heee.. now I got too much books to read and too little time.. hahaha
Housewarming..
We we're just discussing on house warming and how many people were interested to take a look at the house. Then, we diverged to the topic of renovations for the house.
I made a suggestion that we should have the housewarming before the renovations. That way, everyone can imagine themselves sitting on a sofa while they sit on the floor, and we can serve nu-water and a biscuit each. My other half was a little bit more inovative, she suggested that we make everyone help paint the house to save on cost.
We both finally came to an agreement that we'd send invites to guests for the housewarming with a note telling all guests to come in t-shirt and shorts. And that newspaper hats will be provided.

Getting a home soon...
Got the maintenance and survey fees in... probably expecting to collect keys somewhere next week. This will be the first time after many many years that I wont be staying in a rented house. After all this time, I finally have a place that I can call home...
Internet virus..
Just a while ago, a buddy messaged me and asked me why I sent him a link. Reminded me of my encounter with the stupid email virus link.

A nice poem...
There are days when
bubbling from us comes
the innocent child within,
who giggles at the little things
and wears a silly grin.
There are days when
melancholy comes to
visit for a while;
the mind feels tired, the body weak;
we have no strength to smile.
There are days when
joy abundant
grabs a hold of you and me;
wraps us up in all it's splendor,
lifts us up and sets us free.
There are days when
sorrow wraps us
in its cloak of grief and fear,
'till our hearts ache to the breaking,
'till our eyes can't shed a tear.
There are days when
love bestows us
with its wonderment and light;
with its beauty and its mystery,
its power and its might.
And there are days when
life rewards us
and seems to make amends
by granting us a marvelous gift,
the precious gift of friends.
bubbling from us comes
the innocent child within,
who giggles at the little things
and wears a silly grin.
There are days when

the mind feels tired, the body weak;

Where to... where to...
We were just discussing on an offer than an ex-colleague alerted us on over breakfast this morning. It seems like a lot of jobs are available, but there are things that need to be considered. First, salary. Finding a place that matches a 20% increase and permits career development is a must. Secondly, it has to be something that is relevant and that acknowledges your past experience as relevant experience. Thirdly, you have to be happy doing what you're doing. Well, at this stage, there's no telling what kind of employer you would get, so job type and remuneration takes priority.
A colleague mentioned that remuneration in a profit organisation may not be as good as that in a public establishment. But then again, job satisfaction and experience comes into mind and there is no knowing how much an organisation is willing to pay you, unless you apply.
Lets hope for the best... and some good response!! ;)

Animania...
Just completed Kekkaishi, and already there's a brudder asking me if they're gonna have a sequel. Sad thing is, there is no sequel to Kekkaishi even though the ending did open avenues for a second season. Kekkaishi is nice, and the ending is kinda sweet. It's getting harder and harder to find good anime to cover up the gaps when naruto and bleach episodes aren't in.
The Hair
Just got back from a haircut. Really wonder why we need to get haircuts. Who was the idiot who invented the haircut? I mean, can we just leave it really long like Cousin Itt?
Everytime I come out of the barber, I would feel like a little kid. I have the hair of a little kid. Its not that I asked to have a little kids hairstyle, but no matter what I tell the lady (apart from saying "Hey I want it bald"), it always ends up looking like a little kid. Wonder if it'd ever change when I get older, not that I'm not old aredy. Perhaps, getting some white hair would make it look a bit more adultish.
I remember once when I was at a barber, and the lady asked me what hairstyle I wanted. I pointed at a guy sitting opposite me, and the lady mistook my pointing for another kid sitting opposite that had a tail coming down the front of the forehead. That really got me pissed. Ended up cutting off the tail.
Well, at least its done and over....till next month.. or if I can stall a bit, the month after. After all, like I always say, what matters most is not the hair you have outside, but the hair u have inside right??

Books...
Saw this book at the bookstore yesterday...called The Train Man. The cover showed that it was an international best seller and it looks something like an english translation of a chinese book. As I was flipping through it, I seemed like it was chat entries of maybe 2 or more people combined in a book. I guess its quite interesting that someones online discussion gets published and it becomes an international best seller. [Correction: It's Jap and it's forum entries, not chat]
Been wanting to get Secret by Rhonda Byrne too.. after an old friend of mine told me about it. Another journal entry kinda thing with a catch that anything would come true if you think about it hard enough. Will consider getting the book after I'm done with the sleep inducing Catcher in the Rye.

Haha... Perhaps I should hit the bookstores again soon.
Zzzzz...
Day b4 yesterday was at 9pm.. yesterday was at 10? My sleeping hours are getting earlier and earlier. Feels lethargic after a long day at work, even if there isn't much meaningful things to do.
Point to ponder...
Morrie Schwartz, quoted by Mitch Albom, "Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man and the Last Great Lesson", Doubleday, 1997
The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
Unless someone like you cares a whole lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.
Anita Koddick
If you think you're too small to have an impact try going to bed with a mosquito in the room!
I personally like the last one....hehe

New habit..
Realised this morning that I've developed a new habit. Every morning, on my way to work, I'd listen to 98.7 and have the urge to sms them the answer to whatever question they post. Except for the time when they said they were giving up 4 Janet Jackson tickets.
Well, its not that I cannot afford Pasta Mania on my own but the thought of winning a $120 voucher somehow just makes the 30c sms feel worth it.

Hidden talents
I think I found a hidden talent. Just yesterday, I was helping a colleague beautify the portrait of her hubby. I wasn't expecting any reaction. But when she saw the improvements I made to it, she burst out in laughter of joy and almost fell down. I think I should really hone my talents in portrait drawing. Perhaps one day I'll be able to do something like a Mona Lisa and hit it big time!
MMORPG
Haven't really tried an MMORPG b4 so I'm starting with Cabal. Saw my landlords son focused on a hack and slash that looked a little like Diablo, so I ended up loaning the disc from him (yep saved me the trouble of downloading it) and getting myself registered with Asiasoft. Its free though, so I guess I will be spending some nights trying out this new RPG.
Yawn..
Was dead tired today. Woke up late. Rushed to work. Rushed breakfast and then headed for a meeting. Finished the meeting. Rushed lunch. Went back to office. Drove to next meeting place. Finished meeting. Drive back to office. Did claims. Drive to fetch wife. Go dinner. Fetch wife home. Drive back to office. Meet friends at Brewerks. Drive back home. Phew! It's 12am. I'm gonna drop flat on the bed after typing this!!!
Meeting meeting
Aarrrgghhh.. another workgroup meeting.. and on a Friday afternoon! Why must these guys arrange such meetings so late on a Friday afternoon? And Friday is dress down day... not office wear day!!! aaarrrgghh..
Yumm...
Man, I just love the taste of sea prawns with mustard at La Petite! Yumm.. tastes soooo good. My other half had the ravioli with prawns and foei gras. Good thing for me (not for my cholesterol levels), she doesn't fancy the foei gras, so I had sea prawns with foei gras.... hehehe.
&*^%#@ ERP
There is this new gantry on Upper Bukit Timah, which makes it 3 gantries that I have to pass through every morning. Already, it is bad enough that the two gantries cost $0.50 and $2.50, now they add another $1.00 gantry making it $4 each morning!! This is worse than daylight robbery. Which person on earth don't have to go to work? U mean everyone has to make it to the office as early as 7am when office hours start at 8.30? So whats the use of setting up gantries when traffic is still just as heavy, or heavier because COE's keep being released? And if the traffic persists, are we supposed to pay extra ERP charges again? #^@^$@#%#^@^$#%#$*#@
Point to ponder...
We were having lunch in a group I that I normally don't hang out with after going out for some work. I asked a colleague which branch of the organisation she preferred, since she'd already been rotated around 3 departments. She said something on the line of "On what conditions are you referring to? Where u get to drink tea a lot, or where you learn a lot? Where no one bothers you, where your superior controls everything you do, or where there is some control on what you do?"
At a certain level, we do wish that the things we do are relevant to our fields. By doing things that we are familiar with, and learning through this process, somehow, I guess some satisfaction is derived from knowing that you are doing something relevant. On another level, everyone needs some level of freedom to do the things they need to do. So where would you draw the line? Do you choose an environment where you have freedom, but wont be doing something relevant to your career, or would you choose an environment where you would be doing something relevant but would expect control and less freedom? I guess it all boils down to what's important to you.

Memories of Nobody
Was looking for Diamond Dust Rebellion, when I came across Memories of Nobody. Never liked watching anime movies built up from a series, cos they always seem like a substandard version of the series.
But I have to say that its not too bad. Senna is quite a memorable character albeit a thin plot and short storyline. And watching the Shinigami unleash their Bankais one at a time feels like watching 20 Bleach episodes all at once.
But I do somehow feel sorry for Rukia and Inoue.

Dream
Had 2 dreams yesterday. Never ever had dreams like this before. I dreamt on two scenarios that I had murdered someone. Both times no one I knew. Both times at places which I don't know. Similarities was that I didn't intend to commit murder, but it happened anyway.
To dream that you are murdered, suggests that some important and significant relationship has been severed and you are trying to disconnect yourself from your emotions. It also represents your unused talents.
I woke up finding it really strange. I remembered reading somewhere, that dreams represent things that are totally different from what you dreamt of. I remember dreaming of a circus in chaos during my STP or college days and reading somewhere that it signified that my life was out of control.
Found an interpretation off the net:
To dream that you have committed a murder, indicates that you are putting an end to an old habit and your former ways of thinking. This could also mean an end to an addiction. Alternatively, you may have some repressed aggression or rage at yourself or at others.
To dream that you witness a murder, indicates deep-seated anger towards somebody. Consider how the victim represents aspects of yourself that you want to destroy or eliminate.
To dream that you are murdered, suggests that some important and significant relationship has been severed and you are trying to disconnect yourself from your emotions. It also represents your unused talents.
Perhaps it was the end of a long holiday, perhaps the end of the study trip at UK or perhaps even the end of being contented at work. Or perhaps I do have evil tendencies that include murdering people I don't know.. muahahaha. Better not make me angry and stay clear from me. Hehe.
I've never been a believer in dreams or its interpretations, so I'll leave it as just another dream.
Honesty Revisited
Went out with a couple of colleagues to have tea. When we were about to return, two of the older folks, me and an aunty, decided to ta pao. So I had a tea, while aunty chose a teh halia. When we got back, I accidently had both cups mixed. Aunty, not even smelling the tea before she drank it, drank my tea. Aunty then told me 'its ok'.
Later, while I was typing away on my pc, I saw a very sheepish aunty eyeing my teh halia. So i offered the aunty both the tea and the teh halia. 2 mins later, aunty again sheepishly look paiseh for drinking 2 tea and bluff me she wan to go out buy stuff suen pian buy one teh for me. So I look at aunty so old so poor thing, decide to follow aunty go ta pao.
We go to the lift, and of all people, the head of the company is in it!! Aunty look at the head and said "U know why we are here? He mixed our drinks, I drank both and now we are going down to buy him a drink". My god. Almost died there. Aunty is aunty. So dem aunty. Head of company become dem blur. End up I think he dunno wat to say anymore.
Next time remind me not to give people my swapped teh halia. Dangerous. And hazardous to career.
